Field Schools

Archaeology in Annapolis, through the Anthropology Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, offers annual summer field schools to provide students with the necessary instruction and experience to continue a career or further education in archaeology. Though originally set only in Annapolis, since 2000, the Field Methods in Archaeology course has split its six-week program between the city of Annapolis and the Eastern Shore. In 2012, Archaeology in Annapolis developed a partnership with the city of Easton, Maryland, and has since opened a second field school. This second course is an Advanced Field Methods in Public Archaeology, designed for experienced students who wish to refine their skills and specialize in community engagement.

More information about each course, its requirements, and logistics can be found on the individual course page.
